Noah's Ark

This week in Religion, we talked about God creating the animals. Today, we did an art project that went along with our religion study. We made Noah's Ark! Mr. Memmer came into our class to help us out.

Left and Right

Teaching children the difference between left and right can be difficult. However, with a little help and some daily routines, children will be able to distinguish right from left without any trouble. Everyday in the classroom we line up for lunch and I pass out the lunch sticks. I always hand them to the children on their left side. Then I say, "With our sticks in our left hands, we raise our right hands to make the sign of the cross and say, 'In the name of the Father, and of the ...' " Simple things that you can do with your child:

-While driving in the car, tell or ask your child which direction you are turning.

-While at the dinner table, ask your child who is sitting on their right/left side.

-When getting out of bed, ask your child what side of the bed they got out of.

*This concept was a hard one for my son to learn.

Before & After

In math class today, we were discussing the terms before and after. We decided that before means in front of and after means behind. However, several of the students had trouble with these words. We talked about looking to see which way the line is facing, before finding objects before and after others. Please help your child with this concept.

New Clock!

I went shopping at Target this weekend and bought our classroom a new clock! Big Deal, you say? Well, this clock IS big. It is 29" tall! Mrs. Broeker has one for her resource room and I love it. It cost a little much, but, hey, it was on clearance. Feel free to stop in and take a look at our new clock.
