Visit to Wesselman's Grocery Store

We were greeted at the door by the manager.
He let us all pick out a piece of fruit.
After we all had our fruit, he took us in the back room and gave us a bag to hold our fruit and a bottle of water.
Then he showed us the rest of the store.

We were all very hungry and seeing all of the food was making us even more hungry.
Our favorite aisle was the Chips and Soda aisle!

THANK YOU

Thank you Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Wathen for helping out on our field trip.

Thank you Mrs. Broeker and Mrs. Cornelius for joining us at the airport.

Thank you again Mrs. Cornelius for scheduling the airport visit!

The Library

Today we read a story about a boy that takes a trip to the library for the first time. He wanted to learn more about dinosaurs. The children were very interested in this story. It told about how they used the computer at the library to help them find books about dinosaurs. Later, I showed the children what the Evansville library website looks like and how to use it to find books. I love taking my children to the library during the summer and hope that some of you discover all of the fun things that they library has to offer.

Sorting Pencils

At the end of the day yesterday, Mrs. Haas brought a package to our classroom. Our freebie from Highlights finally came. (Remember the orange slips that came home with your child's report card?) I ordered Sorting Pencils. They are a fun way to sort and group students for different activities. The pencils come in six different colors. On each pencil is a number and a shape. When the pencils are passed out, I can have them group themselves by color, number, or shape.

Thank you to all of the parents that signed and returned the slips.

Countdown

Our countdown to 1st grade has begun.
First, we made rows of 10 until we had 180 cubes.

Then, we counted out how many days of school (155) are gone.

Finally, we counted how many cubes were left.
We only have 25 days of Kindergarten!
Then it's off to First Grade!

Dinosaurs

Most of you already know that this group of students loves dinosaurs. This week's story is "If the Dinosaurs Came Back." They loved the story and the writing activity that we did with it.

Apologies / Excuses

Did you ever notice that when someone tries to apologize, they usually end the apology with an excuse?

When I started this blog, it was my intent to post something every day. Well, I realized that I messed that up lately, and for that I am sorry. I could go on to say that I was slightly preoccupied last week planning and preparing for my son's First Communion on Sunday. But in all honesty, I was an emotional train wreck. I tried to tell myself that Mitchell making his First Communion was no big deal, but by the time Sunday came, I was a mess. I cried so many times during his special mass. It is not easy to watch your baby grow up!

Enough about me. I will do my best to get back and stay on track for the rest of the school year.
