School Pictures

You should know that the picture man said that the kindergarten class was a great class. He said that they were the quietest, and had the best smiles!

Working with Partners

Today for math, we worked with one partner to create patterns. They were supposed to talk with their partner and discuss what they wanted their patterns to look like. This was an interesting project. I picked the groups and told them where they should work. Most groups went right to work creating the same beautiful patterns. A few groups did not talk at all and did their own patterns.

Check your child's math paper tonight and see if they are having trouble creating patterns. If they are, please help them make some patterns at home.

Teamwork

Mr. Lichlyter had to brag about the kindergarten class. He was doing parachute activities with all of his groups and so far only the kindergarten class was able to work together to get the ball through the hole. I was so proud of the children for working together to accomplish the task!

Skipping

Everyday during our Brain Break, we skip. Well, most of us skip. Ask your child to skip for you. If they cannot skip for you, please help them learn. We teach children how to skip by telling and showing them that it is just a step and a hop. (Step, hop, step, hop, etc.) Skipping is an important exercise for children's brains!

Hard Workers

We got off to a great start today. They were the quietest class in the gym. They came into the classroom and did their morning jobs without any reminders. Then they started working and they worked and worked and worked. When we finally had calendar time (30 minutes later than normal), we all decided to continue to work hard all morning. They agreed to get all of their "work" done in the morning, so that we could "play" all afternoon. (They will have extra center time this afternoon! We will also be playing memory games with the first grade and taking turns playing on the computers.)

What a beautiful day!

We celebrated the wonderful weather by having our story time outside. We sat in a circle in the shade and listened to our story. I hope that this nice weather holds out for a few more days!

Chaperones needed!

A field trip to the zoo is being planned for Wednesday, October 6. I will need 3 parents to help supervise the kindergarten class. You will need the Safe Environment training before you can go with us on the field trip. A training session is scheduled for tomorrow night; please call the school office for more information.

I will take the first three parents that respond. (You may send a note, call and leave a message, or send an email.)
